afterschoolGLASSBORO – The Glassboro Child Development Centers (GCDC) has added Kindergarten to the ranks of youngsters served in after-school programs with the opening of the Rodgers After School Expanded Learning (RASKEL) program on January 17. Activities take place at the J. Harvey Rodgers School Monday through Friday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. every day school is in session.  The program also operates on early dismissal days at no extra cost. RASKEL youngsters enjoy a 1:10 staff-to-child ratio (or better), and participate in a nutritious snack, academic enrichment, homework help, sports and fitness, the arts, science and nature activities, as well as literacy and math games. There is also a service learning component and occasionally field trips. The Glassboro Child Development Centers has provided quality programs and enrichment for Glassboro's children in the public schools since 1985 and has grown into a program of excellence.

With grants and subsidies, the agency is able to provide this program at a low cost to all of Glassboro's children.  Families should contact Quality Care Resource and Referral to see if they qualify for a Voucher.  If not, they may take advantage of GCDC's other subsidized slots, which allow students to attend for just $150 per month, or about $1.85 per hour. RASKEL applications may be found at the J. Harvey Rodgers main office (301 Georgetown Road, Glassboro), at the RASKEL program (in the all-purpose room after school), or at GCDC's main office (31 South Main Street, Glassboro). More information is available by contacting GCDC at 856-881-3331.
